      What is moissanite and why is it better than a diamond?

      Moissanite (silicon carbide, SiC) was discovered in 1893 by the French chemist Henri Moissan in a meteorite crater. Today it's grown in a laboratory with grade D-F (colorless) purity and VVS clarity, the same grades as an investment diamond. Three facts that no diamond seller will tell you:

      • Brilliance (refractive index): 2.65 vs 2.42 for diamond. Moissanite reflects more light.
      • Mohs hardness: 9.25 (diamond is 10). Only a diamond scratches it — quartz, sand, keys don't.
      • Fire (dispersion): 0.104 vs 0.044 for diamond. More colorful flashes under any light.

      What is moissanite and can it be told apart from a diamond with the naked eye?
      Moissanite is silicon carbide (SiC) grown in a laboratory with grade D-F colorless purity and VVS clarity.       Can I change my ring to 14k or 18k gold later?
      Yes, it's our most requested upgrade service. We keep your original moissanite and set it into a new piece of 14k gold (from $15,624 MXN) or 18k gold (quoted by design), crediting you the value of the silver returned. The process takes 15-20 business days. It's the smart strategy: you get engaged today with silver from $1,124 MXN, and on your first anniversary or when you have the budget, you upgrade the ring to gold without losing the original gem or the sentimental value of the piece.
      Do you do free size changes? How long does it take?
      Yes. The first size change is completely free within the first 30 days after delivery; you only cover return shipping (about $150 MXN). The process takes 5-7 business days from when we receive the ring at our workshop. Additional changes or those after 30 days have a cost of $350 MXN.       What size should I order? How do I take my measurement?
      If you know the size, we carry all Mexican sizes from 4 to 12 including half sizes (4.5, 5.5, etc.). If it's a surprise and you don't know your partner's size, we recommend ordering size 6, which is the most common among Mexican women; you can use the free first change if it doesn't fit. You can also measure a ring she already wears by wrapping a thread around the finger and comparing it to our size guide (we send it to you via WhatsApp). Measure at the end of the day when the finger is widest.
